
Mon, December 5 (MExN): One day programme on celebration of World Soil Day-cum-Pre-Rabi Campaign (Sammelan) was conducted at the Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Aboi, Mon office premises on December 5 with Chubatemjen, SDO (Civil), Angjangyang, Mon as the chief guest.
The programme was chaired by Dr. Ruokuovilie Mezhatsu, Programme Co-ordinator, Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Mon and welcome address by Martha Chakruno, Subject Matter Specialist (Plant Protection). The highlights of the programme was delivered by Dr. M.S Sachan, SMS (GPB) in which he stressed on the emergence and importance of World Soil Day, 2016 and also highlighted rabi campaign.
The chief guest emphasized on sustainable food production system and implementation of resilient agriculture practices that will progressively improve land and soil quality. He encouraged the farmers to be well-informed on agriculture & allied schemes and avail its benefits followed by distribution of Soil Health Cards.
During the technical session, Audio-Visual Aids were utilized (Film Show as well power point presentation) by Dr. Paihem Michui, SMS (Vety. & A.H) emphasized on the theme ‘Soils and Pulses Symbiosis for life’ of World Soil Day 2016 and the importance of soil, consequently Dr. R. Mezhatsu highlighted about the fallow management in jhum and lowland paddy field, crops grown on Rabi season, economic impact on multiple cropping systems and its positive effect on soil health.
Consultation services were provided to the farmers during the interactive session along with Technology Showcasing. Critical inputs such as extension literatures, bio-control agents, vety medicines and seeds were freely distributed to the farmers.
Altogether 107 participants from the nine neighbouring villages involving Village Council, Civil Societies and farming community attended the programme. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by SMS (Vety & AH).
