With the need to have a safer, more comfortable, more convenient and sufficient movement of pedestrians especially students residing in the college campus, the installation of solar street lights was considered as a dire need, a press release issued by KSC informed.
KSC principal, Dr Temjenwabang along with the vice-principal and staffs visited the sites of installation and appreciated the active work carried out by the technicians and staffs detailed by the Department of New and Renewable energy.
Green initiative leader, Shevito Theyo, assistant professor, also expressed his gratitude towards the department for installing the solar lights, which are more environmental friendly as compared to traditional street lights. Further, the installation of solar street lights not only addresses the longstanding issue of inadequate street lighting in the college but also enhances safety, social activities and access to education and recreation for students in the college premises particularly during the dark hours, Theyo stated. These lights also served the need of the public in general who experience sporadic electricity supply at the same time reducing carbon footprint.
