Kohima | March 30 : A solidarity benefit concert in aid of 2011 Japan- Earthquake-Tsunami will take place on April 1 at the Kohima Local Ground from 5:00 pm onwards. Billed as ‘Nagaland Contributes,’ the Music Task Force under the department of Youth Resources & Sports, Nagaland is coordinating the efforts of the concert responding to common sentiments.
Addressing a press conference here at the conference hall of Kohima Press Club, Gugs Chishi, project director Music Task Force said the amount collected from this concert will be sent to Japanese Embassy, New Delhi. He also added that the entire show and concept will be documented which will be sent to Japanese Embassy, New Delhi along with the cash/cheques collected for the cause.
Entry to the venue is free. Nevertheless, there will free will donations at the venue in which donation box has been designed. Cheques/cash may be sent to ‘Nagaland Contributes’ account with Axis Bank, Kohima. Around 200 chairs will be arranged for the senior/elders citizens, Chishi added. One good thing is that all the participating artistes and musicians are performing for free as part of its contributions and solidarity towards the victims of Japan earthquake-tsunami.
The concert will witness renowned musicians like Methaneilie, OFF, Divine Connection, XTC, Dementia, De Band, Ebenezer Band, Chakhesang Church Choir, NBCC Male Choir, children from the Ao Baptist Church, Rengma male voices, Kenie Chale of NSACS brand ambassador 2010, Toshinaro, Naga Idol 2008, Topeni Nagaland Idol 2009, Menguse-u, Shurhoseilie, Alobo, Dr. Nicky Kire and many others.
Chishi said that several other musicians and bands have expressed their desire to join the cause.
A minute silence will also be observed as part of respect to those victims of earthquake-tsunami.
The show will be around two and half hour affair.
