Solution before election, public orgs to HM

DIMAPUR, JANUARY 6 (MExN): A host of public organizations today submitted a public demand to Union Home Minister Amit Ahah on the Naga political solution.

A joint statement from 8 public organizations demanded a political solution to the Naga political issue before the election. The public demand was appended by the NPAC, NGBF, ACAUT, CNTC, SCAN, Ex-PAN, CNCCI and NTC.

It observed that the elongated negotiations have had immense toll on the life and economy of the people of Nagaland specifically. “In view of this fact, the people had submitted several memorandums and representations to the Prime Minister of India in particular during the last few years urging him to resolve the issue without delay,” it informed.

However, the organizations said that “uncertainty looms large till date despite the official negotiations being concluded in October, 2019.” “Also, the pacification of the public by the then BJP General Secretary In-charge of Nagaland that ‘election is for solution’ in 2018 seems to become a damp squib as the term of the Nagaland Legislative Assembly is about to end without solution,” they added.

The organizations further endorsed an earlier representation which was submitted to the Prime Minister on the same issue. “We assure you as the primary stakeholders that we will give our utmost cooperation towards implementation of the solution,” they added.

They meanwhile urged the Government of India to take the decision as to whether the “negotiations are brought to its logical conclusion in a solution or call it a fiasco as the indecision does not benefit any party.”
