Following tradition, the World Music Day will be celebrated at The Garden, Supermarket, Dimapur on June 21. This will be the fifth consecutive year where a select group of musicians will come together in the street of Dimapur to enthrall audiences. This was announced today at a press conference held at Hiyo Café, Dimapur.
The World Music Day has become a worldwide phenomenon as countries across the world rejoice the day in their own way. On this day, musicians perform for free in parks, museums, train stations, castles etc. This helps in making all sorts of music accessible to the public. It gives an opportunity to commune and share a special bond through music.
To make the event more accessible to music lovers, the “Sound Garden” will start with a “JamPad Session” from 3:00 pm where students from Hill Praise Music Academy, Mountain Music Academy, Note Grid Music School, and School of Nerds will put up amazing performances. This is setup with the aim to showcase upcoming talented musicians. Following this, there would also be a Busking and Karaoke session.
The main World Music Day celebrations will begin at 7:00 pm with popular and renowned artists like Moanungsang, James Basnett, Renbeni Odyuo, Jonathan Yhome, Thunglamo, Gearmen Dudes, Akummika, Ronnie Odyuo, Paper Sky, Colored Keys and Incipit taking the stage.
A special feature this year would be a tribute to Late Lamtsala Sangtam of Purple Fusion who passed away recently. Her demise, mourned by fellow musicians, the plan is on to pay a rich and deserving tribute!
