Kohima, February 12 (MExN): The Southern Angami Youth Organization (SAYO) 1st presidential meeting 2022 was held at SAPO Hall Jakhama, Kohima on February 12.
During the meeting, a press note stated that Southern Angami Public Organization (SAPO) President, Kevipodi Sophie called upon the youth leaders to introspect the present scenario of the youths “as lack of employment, income generating sources and financial sustenance posed threat to the generation ahead.”
“While the land has been gifted with abundant natural endowment, conducive climate and other facilities,” he suggested the youths to “explore self employment, marketing, and entrepreneurship by taking up agriculture and farming practices by incorporating modern machinery techniques and equipments and scientific methods.” In the same line, Sophie lamented on the practice of abandoning paddy rice plantation among our people in the preceding years and encouraged the gathering to revive the practice.
Angami Public Organization (APO), Vice President, Zadeho Rikha spoke on the history of Kezoltsa and Dzükou Valley and reiterated on the occupation and ownership of the land since time immemorial. While the Tenyimi Public Organization (TPO) has taken endorsement of addressing issue in toto, the vice president called the youth leaders to defend and protect the land with far-sight and agility.
SAYO President Metekhrielie Mejura delivered the presidential address. Earlier the programme was led by Advocate Zasitsolie Beio, Legal Advisor, SAYO and General Secretary, Metevizo Sophie said the vote of thanks.
