Sovima Village Council new team constituted

Kohima, July 12 (MExN): A new team of Sovima Village Council has been constituted headed by Sebastian Zumvü as its chairman for the tenure 2021-2026.

In a meeting presided over by Thepfukeduo, Head GB of Sovima Village at the Village Council Hall on July 12, the new team including Ruokuosilie Rupreo as General Secretary, Khrieketoulie Joint Secretary, Lhouvisakho Punyü VDB Secretary, and Neihutuo Rupreo Treasurer was selected unanimously by the GBs and village council members.

In a brief address, Chairman-select Zumvü highlighted the new team's plan of action which included greater participation of women and youth in the decision making process. “Our womenfolk represent almost 50% of the population and they are no less capable than the menfolk. Therefore, it is only fair that they have more say than they do now in decisions pertaining to the village,” he said. 

Zumvü said that since the youth are the future of the village, “they should have their say in how they want to fashion their future and destiny.” He also stated that the new team shall endeavour to make Sovima a Clean and Green Village by making it garbage/plastic-free, and also undertaking massive tree plantation and nurturing of the saplings. He called upon the leaders of the village to extend their unstinted support so as to make the plans of the new team a reality.

Lhouvisakho Punyü, VDB Secretary-select, while thanking the village elders for reposing their faith and confidence on him and the new team, called upon the villagers to guide and pray for the team so that it can take the village to greater heights.
