Sparsh Leprosy Awareness Campaign held in Mon

Mon, January 31 (MExN): Sparsh Leprosy Awareness Campaign was organised by National Leprosy Eradication Programme (NLEP), Department of Health & Family Welfare on January 30 at DC's Conference Hall Mon. Dr. Limatula Aier DVBO NVBDCP, in her keynote address said that leprosy is an infectious disease and takes long time to spread from person to person.

Leprosy symptoms appear very late but it is completely curable by early detection and treatment. Its eradication programme was started in 1995 and in 2001 it was eradicated in Nagaland and the same all over India in 2005. Chumlamo Humtsoe SDO (C) Sadar Mon also spoke during the programme. It was chaired by Y. Bonnie Konyak DPM Mon. The pledge on Sparsh Leprosy Awareness Campaign was also taken by the members present.
