Special awareness campaign on RMNCH+A at Mon

Mon, October 28 (DIPR): Directorate of Field Publicity, Ministry of Information & Broadcasting Government of India Mon unit organised a special awareness campaign on reproductive maternal newborn child and adolescent health (RMNCH+A) with special focus on Mission Indradhanush, Population Stabilization, Beti Bachao Beti Padhao and Anaemia among adolescent girls on October 27 at Longkei village with Dr. Thungdeno Murry, SHPO, Dr. Elizabeth Konyak, SHPO and Hingkai Konyak, BPM, NHM, Mon Sadar as the speakers.  

Dr. Thungdeno Murry spoke on mission indradhanush, vaccination and its significance for children below 5 years. She also dwelt on population stabilization on family planning to have a gap of two or more years between children for healthy mother and child. She also spoke on Beti Bachao Beti Padhao which states that there should be no discrimination for a girl child and to give equal rights.  

Dr. Elizabeth Konyak spoke on Anemia on how a girl child becomes anemic due to lack of red blood. Therefore she said that a girl child should be given red meat, green leafy vegetable and iron rich fruit. She also spoke on albendazole-deworming medicine to be given to school going children after every six months.  

Hingkai Konyak dwelt on the importance of the health of children and called upon the villagers to attend such seminars with unity for the benefit for all.  

The program was led by Tingkai Konyak. Mathew SK Bengam, FPO, DFP, Mon gave a brief introduction on the seminar and Tokwang Angh, Longkei village delivered the welcome address.
