Special get-together service for elderly people at DSBC

Dimapur, March 20 (MExN): To pay tribute to the elderly members of the church, Dimapur Sumi Baptist Church (DSBC) organized a special get-together service for people above 70 years of age on Saturday. The theme of the service was “Axukushu Mekua”.  

More than 60 elderly members of the church, who are not able to regularly attend church services due to old age, attended the service; 98 years old man was the eldest among the participants.   The speakers of the service were Rev. S. Vitoshe Swu, Senior Pastor, DSBC and Kanili Aye, Associate Pastor, DSBC. Both speakers presented messages based on Psalms 71. They reminded the gathering to draw close to God in their old age and also encouraged them to continue to be source of blessing and inspiration for the people – the society at large and the church as well. The speakers also shared about the reason behind observing International Day of Older Persons every year on October 1.   Prayer for good health and long life was offered during the service. Z. Yeholi Aye and Lhokiye spoke on behalf of the elderly people. Juliet Shikhu, Pastor, DSBC and Tohovi Chophy, Associate Pastor, DSBC conducted the service. Air-gun shooting for men and hitting target with soft ball for women were held as part of recreational activity for elderly people.
