International Mother Language Day observed at Sümedem Fellowship, DABA, Lengrijan on February 21.
Dimapur, February 21 (MExN): International Mother Language Day was observed in Dimapur with the theme ‘youth voices on multilingual education’, with Commissioner of Police Aotula Imchen, IPS calling for the integration of mother languages with AI-powered applications.
The programme was jointly organised by the Dimapur Watsü Telungjem (DWT) and Ao Kaketshir Telungjem, Dimapur at Sümedem Fellowship, DABA, Lengrijan on February 21
Speaking as the guest of honour, Imchen encouraged youth and students to value their mother tongue as a crucial part of their national and cultural identity. “We should feel proud to be able to speak, read and write our own mother language,” she said.
The IPS officer stressed the need to integrate the usage of mother languages with AI-powered applications to make learning them more child and youth-friendly.
Earlier, DWT President, Kenyangerla delivered the welcome speech and shared the significance of the day. Ao Senso Telungjem Dimapur President, Ningsangwaba exhorted the gathering.
The programme highlights included a Spelling Bee competition and an Ao Hymnal competition among children and youth in the Dimapur area.
The Dimapur Ao Youth Organisation President expressed appreciation and congratulated the organisers while AKTD President pronounced the vote of thanks.
