The 2 day Tangnyinn Aoyea (festival), got underway today with Tangnyinn kinfolk of the Konyak Naga from Arunachal Pradesh, Myanmar and Nagaland converging at Lungwa in an effort to revive and renew the family bond kept disintegrated by an arbitrary boundary that elongates over to Myanmar, Arunachal Pradesh and Nagaland.
Koiwang Konyak, President, Tangyinn, in his welcome address to the chief guest said that Tangnyinn Aoyea (festival) was organized with an objective of bringing back the brothers of Tangnyinn, which was separated since time immemorial, during the head hunting period, with spirit of reconciliation. He said that Tangnyinn celebration was never an attempt to break away from the Nagas, but said that it was aimed at bringing together the lost brothers of Tangnyinn clan, who now live across political boundaries in Arunachal Pradesh, Myanmar and Nagaland.
The Tangnyinn clan is reportedly spread out in almost all parts of northern Myanmar, and further extending to the Chindwin River in China and Tirap and Changlang in Arunachal Pradesh, and Mon district of Nagaland.
Besides, the address of Goa Governor SC Jamir, the other highlights of the inaugural function included cultural dances from Lonshu Village, Myanmar Men, Ponchau Village, Arunachal Pradesh, Special numbers from Tangnyinn Integration Band and Ponchau Youth, Arunachal Pradesh; invocation by Sheipa, Education Secretary, KBBB, Welcome Address by Chief Angh, Lungwa; short speeches by DC, Mon and President Konyak Union, and which was followed by opening of Exhibition cum Sale by the Chief Guest.
