Chetheba, December 13 (MExN): Splash Brothers from Thenyizu village defeated hosts Hümewsü to win the Chetheba Basketball Tournament held at Chetheba Town local ground on December 13.
In an exciting final match, Splash Brothers outclassed Hümewsü by 35-24 points with Aveto Resu declared as the most valuable player for men's category. Meanwhile, The Mix lost against Hümewsü in the semifinals and B Ballers falll short against Splash Brothers.
In the women’s category, Lady Ballers from Chetheba beat Rimshots by 12-2 points in the final match to take the title. Ravolu Nyekha was adjudged the most valuable player of the tournament for women's category.
The two-day tournament was organised by Hümewsü, a group of young enthusiast from Chetheba with the motive to promote friendship through sports. Owing to the pandemic, the group expressed regret that they could not host the tournament in a bigger platform for other districts to participate. The team hoped that they will be able to host open tournament in the coming years with the new normal, a press release was issued by Team Hümewsü stated.
A total of 10 teams participated in the men's category, while five teams took part in the women's category.
It may be mentioned that the first customized iron board for basketball court at Chetheba was inaugurated on September 15 dubbed as a lockdown project.
