Dimapur, August 20 (MExN): The seizures made by the personnel of Dimapur East Police Station might send shivers down to many alcoholic-dependents’ spines but it’s evident by the outcome of the raid that we have a flourishing adulterated and spurious liquor trade going uninterrupted in the state.
The raid conducted at Ellora Lane on Monday at 3 PM resulted in unearthing the hazardous trade. A total of 154 bottles of adulterated IMFL were seized with several appliances used to puncture the original bottles and refill them with spurious liquors using some chemicals unfit for human consumption.
Besides these the police also recovered 47 nos of outer covers of AC Black (Whisky), 9 nos of 8 PM (Whisky), hundreds of corks, dendrite tubes, pokers and strainers.
Though the kingpin involved in manufacturing the “Killing substance” could not be arrested but police has taken two persons in their custody namely Sujit Das and Birju Das.
In the past also several booze joints in the new market area were raided and such illegal practices of making spurious and adulterated IMFL were unearthed but those actions of the law enforcing agencies could not yield result as because to put an end to such evil practices the involvement of the common masses along with institutions like churches and non-governmental organizations can only produce desired results.
The police and the common people has to wake up and act before its too late and we bump into more and more deaths occurring in our societies almost every day.
