Squash has become an expensive commodity in the state capital Kohima with four pieces being sold at Rs 100 in the market. Chayote (Sechium edule) commonly called ‘Squash’ or as ‘Eskos’ is mostly grown in the kitchen garden in Nagaland. Low yield of Squash has been reported from various parts of the state this year. In earlier years, sufficient quantity of Squash was available by the ending month of May. However, low yield of Squash has been reported till date (August). (Morung Photo)
