Kattankulathur, May 18 (MExN): A final-year student of SRM Institute of Science and Technology (SRMIST), Puranjay Mohan has been given an offer from Amazon Germany for Software development role with a CTC of Rs 1 crore per annum, the Institute informed on May 18.
Founder Chancellor of SRMIST, Dr TR Paarivendhar announced the same at a press meet held Chennai, in the presence of Pro Chancellor (Academics) Dr P Sathyanarayanan, VC Dr C Muthamizhchelvan, Registrar Dr S Ponnusamy, and Director (Career Centre) Venkata Sastry.
Honouring the student with ‘Illustrious Student Award,’ Dr Paarivendhar said that his success would be a role model for others, a press release from SRMIST informed.
Given that Puranjay was a not from a computer student branch but from Electronic and Instrumentation, the Chancellor noted that it was a unique achievement, it said.
As per the release, Dr Sathyanarayanan also informed that two of SRMIST students were also placed for Rs 50 lakhs each.
“It is a very proud moment for SRMIST as its students from non-csc (computer science) branch are also getting placed well this season. This is the highest offer made in any private university in India,” he maintained.
According to the release, over 1000+ companies visited SRMIST and over 10,000 students were successfully placed during the current season.
Over 4000 students have got Super Dream (Rs 10 L Pa+) and Dream (Rs 5 L Pa+) offers and 5200+ got Unique offers, it said, adding that the numbers may rise further as many more companies are expected to come as the placement season will continue this month.
The Institute’s top recruiters this year included Amazon, Paypal, Google, Commvault, Morgan Stanley, VM Ware, Bajaj Finserv, Accolite, Toyota, EY GDS, Amdocs, Deloitte, JP Morgan, TCS, Wipro, Cognizant, Capgemini, L&T Construction, Honda R&D, IBM, Fidelity, Fiserv, Barclays, Hero Motor Corp, Walmart, John Deere, Philips, Bank Of America, Wells Fargo, Sabre, Siemens, Hitachi, SILICON LABS, Alstom, HPE, Vodafone, Norton Lifelock, Apollo tyres, Air Asia, AB Inbev, NeilsonIQ, MediaTek, KPMG, Loreal(MBA).
“Last year our placement number was 8000 and the previous year was 7000. This year we have placed more than 10,000 students,” said Dr Sathyanarayanan added.
SRMIST, located at Kattankulathur, about 35 km from Chennai, is home to over 20,000 students from all over the country and abroad, the release said. It has state-of-the-art laboratories, a full-fledged medical college, hospital and research centre besides a School of Public Health, which is a nodal centre for implanting the National Family Health Survey in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry, the release informed.
The fountainhead of the institution is a farmer-turned-educationistm, Dr Paarivendhar, who is also a Member of Parliament (Perambalur Constituency) and philanthropist, it added.
The SRMIST is accredited with the highest grade of A++ by NAAC and graded as Category I university with 12 B status and all Engineering, Pharmacy, Architecture, and MBA programmes are approved by AICTE, it maintained.
It also secured the fourth rank in the Atal Ranking of Institutions on Innovation Achievements (ARIIA) and ranked globally by QS with ‘4 Star’ and India-centric QS IGAUGE Diamond rating.
Beside government-funded research projects at an outlay of Rs 160 crore, the institute has over 23 national and international patents and recently opened Sir C V Raman Research Park built at an estimate of Rs 120 crores with state-of-the-art equipment, the release added.
