Kohima, May 21 (MExN): The Chief Secretary and the Finance Commissioner of Nagaland have told the SSA teachers that with State’s financial position having improved in the current financial year, payment of 10% state’s share for salary and submission of utilization certificate to the Central Government will not be a problem unlike other years. The officials also expressed hope of continuous flow of SSA funds from the centre and timely release of salaries.
During a joint meeting held on May 16 with teachers representing Nagaland Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan Teachers’ Association (NSSATA), RMSA Association, and Aggrieved Hindi Teachers’ Association, the Chief Secretary, Pankaj Kumar also assured to personally review the monthly salary payments of the SSA teachers on quarterly basis with the department concerned, a release from NSSATA stated.
The Chief Secretary, Commissioner & Secretary (School Education), and HoD, Directorate of School Education also acknowledged that the SSA teachers appointed in 2010 & 2013 are not co-terminus, but regular employees of the State. Further, the HoD of DoSE assured to implement full service benefits and entitlements to the SSA teachers of 2010 & 2013 at par with the rest of the government employees, the release said.
On the issue of NPS, the Chief Secretary directed the department concerned to complete the task of depositing and uploading in each individual’s account in time frame manner.
The meeting, held at Chief Secretary’s conference hall, was initiated by the Naga Students’ Federation (NSF) as approached by the NSSATA. It was also attended by all Additional Directors of School Education, Director SMA (SSA), Director RMSA, and subordinate officers from the department concerned.
According to the release, NSF President, Subenthung Kithan urged the officials to look into the various issues of the teachers under Centrally Sponsored Schemes in Nagaland.
Meanwhile, Yiben Humtsoe, Convenor, committee for initiation of the joint meeting gave a presentation on behalf of the NSSATA addressing various issues such as status of appointment, irregular payment of salary, GTs seniority list, transfers, deputation, conversions, bank loans, NPS. The presentation demanded absorption of SSA teachers of 2010-13 batch in the non-plan, payment of graduate scale pay to primary teachers possessing graduate qualifications, issuing government official notification order to treat SSA teachers at par with the rest of State employees, regular salary payment without any gaps or lapses. It also asked the government to strictly adhere with the funding patterns as laid down by the central government to avoid delays and lapses.
