St. Dominic’s Church in Kiphire village celebrated silver jubilee with Most Rev Dr James Thoppil, Bishop of Kohima, as the main celebrant today.
Delivering the mass, Most Rev Dr James Thoppil called upon the congregation, which comprised of catechists, believers and priests from different parishes, to live more faithfully, more honestly, and more vigorously.
The Bishop also congratulated the believers of the church, stating the past 25 years might have had many hurdles, difficulties, trials, struggles, but with faith in Jesus the church has grown to a big tree today though it was like a mustard seed few years back.
He also told the believers and the congregation that the road to salvation is very narrow and it will not open all the time. Thus, he asked them to make best use of the opportunity before it is closed.
“With the celebration of silver jubilee, we are now a mature Christian so we have to live like that in our character and action,” he added.
The Bishop also unveiled the jubilee monolith and released the jubilee souvenir.
Rev Father James, who also spoke on the occasion, remembered the initial years of the church where there was lots of difficulties faced by the members.
Paul Lipio, the first catholic of the village and the present catechist, while welcoming the gathering shared joy at the occasion and expressed gratitude to the Most Rev Dr James Thoppil and the gathering for sharing the joy of silver jubilee with the church.
Tspikiyu, Hd GB, Kiprhie village and Justin Khatomong, Executive Chairmen, USSC also spoke on the occasion.
