Dimapur, August 21 (MExN): St John College, Dimapur, felicitated its undergraduate toppers who featured in the recently declared Nagaland University results at a programme held on August 17.
Seven students of the college secured positions in the university's Top Ten list in their respective subjects. They were Nonya Konyak and Sashimenla, who secured ranks 1 and 5 respectively in Economics; Ashlesha Sen (Rank 1, Chemistry); Khongpe B (Rank 1, Physics); Honom JN Yanlem (Rank 6, Political Science); and Anoli K Awomi and Moasungla, who secured ranks 8 and 9 respectively in Zoology.
The three Rank 1 holders were each awarded a cash prize of Rs 10,000. The prizes were handed over by Peter Banks, Administrative Head of the college.
Banks expressed gratitude to God for the college producing university toppers every year and congratulated this year's achievers for their consistency and dedication. He said their achievements would challenge and set precedents for their juniors.
The college said the performance was in line with its record of producing Rank 1 students every year for more than a decade.
The college was also recognised with an Institutional Excellence Award by the University of Science and Technology Meghalaya (USTM) on June 20, 2026, for UG Science, in recognition of its outstanding performance in Nagaland University examinations. The award was presented at an event held at the Town Hall, Dimapur.
The felicitation programme was chaired by Keshenle Seb, Head of the Department of Political Science. Marshitet, Head of the Economics Department, and Aojungla Jamir, Head of the Mathematics Department, delivered speeches on behalf of the faculty.
The three Rank 1 holders shared their journeys and experiences, including the efforts required to secure the top positions at the university level. The programme concluded with a thanksgiving prayer by Mentilong Jamir, counsellor of the college.
