St Joseph University hosts 4th Convocation Day

Chümoukedima, February 15 (MExN): St Joseph University, Chümoukedima hosted the 4th Convocation Day on February 14. 

The Chief Minister of Nagaland, Neiphiu Rio in his address said that convocation was a day of celebration and pride and most importantly a day of new beginning. He addressed the achievement of the graduands as not merely theirs alone, but also for the Assistant Professors and Professors who had been guiding them throughout, and their families and friends as well. 

He emphasized “degree as not just a piece of paper of academic excellence, but also a proof of one’s ability to innovate and contribute to the society.” He enforced them to be an asset to the society and the community they belong to. 

Vice-Chancellor Dr D Gnanadurai presented the Annual Report wherein 1200 graduands were conferred out of which 35 exceptional gold medals, 31 Silver medals were awarded and 31 Doctorate Research scholars were to receive their doctoral degrees. He also highlighted the accomplishments the University has achieved so far, most notably being the first in Nagaland to offer a Department of Physical Education and Sports.

The programme was followed by the Award of Degrees by Rev Fr Dr JE Arul raj, Chancellor. There were 244 undergraduate graduands and 402 Post-Graduate graduands. In total, there were 646 graduands who received their Awards of Degree.
