Department of Education, St Joseph University organised a marathon race to raise cancer awareness on February 3.
Chümoukedima, February 3 (MExN): The Department of Education, St Joseph University organised a marathon race to raise cancer awareness in Chümoukedima district on the theme, “Close the Care Gap: Together we challenge those in power” on February 3.
PRO Father Anish invoked God’s blessings and the marathon was flagged off by SJU Controller of Examination, Dr S Thiyagarajan.
The key focus of the marathon was on the wellbeing of people and society which will assist in early detection which is important in the management and also prevention by making necessary lifestyle changes.
The race started from the 7th mile junction in Chümoukedima and ended at the university gate. The entire route was managed by the student volunteers and faculties involving the Traffic Police.
Around 100 students participated in the race. The winners were First - Kaikho Bonafice from 6th semester Department of Commerce; Second- Kaikho Maheo from 2nd semester Department of Mathematics; Third- Hubeka K Yeptho 4th semester from Department of Political Science.
The first 20 winners were awarded with certificates. The event concluded with an exhortation on spreading awareness in the community from Sister Thaines, Deputy Registrar, SJU and vote of thanks by Mughakali, Assistant Prof Department of Education.
