Jakhama, September 2 (MExN): The 33rd graduation day of St Joseph’s College (A), Jakhama for the 2023 batch with G Kaito Aye, Minister, Roads and Bridges, Government of Nagaland as special guest at the college indoor stadium on September 2.

The event was also graced by Kevipodi Sophie, MLA from Jakhama, Most Rev Dr James Thoppil, Bishop of Kohima Diocese, SJC (A) management, teaching and non-teaching faculty members, students and special invitees, and 665 graduates of 2023.

In his address, Minister Aye exhorted the students to consider college as “sanctuary where dreams are created, potential are realised and friendship are formed.” He encouraged the students to adopt compassion and have the thirst for knowledge in this ever changing world.

After the opening prayer led by Fr Dr Jacob Charalel and welcome note by Fr Dr George Keduolhou Angami, Principal, SJC (A). Other highlights included welcome song by college choir, folk dance by Sangtam Cultural troupe, Wellerman by First Miracle, speech from the best graduate of the batch Kenlumle, message to the graduates by K Zubemo Humtsoe, Director, Department of Business Administration, duet by Akhumla Anar and Müzilü Keyho and vote of thanks by Mütsülü Tetseo. Message and blessings for the graduates was delivered by Dr James Thoppil, Bishop of Kohima. 

During the ceremony the following awards were also conferred: APJ Abdul Kalam Award; Mahatma Gandhi Award; Dr Talimeren Ao Award; Best BBA Student Award; Best Science Award; Alumni Association Award; Avica Achumi Memorial Award; Chikrophuyo Memorial Award; Khriebuno Nagi Literary Award; and Capt. Regina Razousinuo Award.

Further, various gold medals were also awarded to the toppers of the 13 UG and five PG departments.
