St Joseph’s College Jakhama kicks off 12th Spring Fest

Kohima, March 13 (MExN): The 12th Spring Fest of St Joseph’s College Jakhama commenced on Friday with an inaugural session followed by a series of cultural programmes and competitions celebrating student talent and creativity.

The programme began with an invocation by Rev Fr Philip Yanpvuthung and a prelude by the college choir. Principal Dr Fr George Keduolhou Angami delivered the welcome address, while Kakito Khehoshehü Awomi, president of the Students’ Council, gave the presidential address.

The special guest, Col Ajit Singh Negi, commander at Jakhama Military Station, addressed the gathering and encouraged students to make the most of their college years. Describing college life as “the most beautiful journey of life,” he said it is a period when students learn continuously and discover new interests.

He urged students to challenge themselves, dream big and make use of the opportunities available to grow. Negi also expressed his pleasure at finally attending the Spring Fest, which he said he had heard about for several years.

The inaugural session also featured a special presentation by the Army battalion from Zakhama Military Station, following which the special guest formally declared the 12th Spring Fest open.

The second session featured a variety of cultural events including folk dance, war cry, modern dance and student presentations. Performances such as Project Anonymous and Moko Koza were also showcased.

Several off-stage competitions were also held, including a go-cart race, bamboo stilt walk, photography competition and Naga wrestling.

The opening day witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, marking a vibrant start to the annual fest.
