Jakhama, November 2 (MExN): St Joseph’s College (Autonomous), Jakhama concluded its College Week on October 31 with the championship finals and prize distribution at the college basketball court, rounding off five days of competitions, performances and student-led activities under the theme, “Chase the Challenge.”
The week began with an opening ceremony on October 27 at 9:30 am, with Vineikho Tetso, NCS, SDO (Civil), Jakhama, as the special guest.
Addressing the opening on October 27, the special guest and SDO (Civil), Jakhama Vineikho Tetso underscored the importance of perseverance and the pursuit of excellence, quoting Nelson Mandela, Steve Jobs and Theodore Roosevelt.
He encouraged students to embrace challenges, believe in themselves, and maintain a balance between academic responsibilities, social life and personal well-being.
Aligning with the theme, “Chase the Challenge,” Tetso emphasised overcoming the fear of failure and nurturing both physical and mental health.
He officially declared the College Week open, marking the commencement of competitions in various indoor and outdoor events.
Cultural Day was observed on October 30, featuring a series of cultural presentations and competitions, reflecting both contemporary creativity and traditional heritage. It also featured Acapella, Modern Dance, and the Mister and Miss Josephite contest.
The event culminated with the crowning of Poupan Riamei and Vinika Kiba as Mister and Miss Josephite 2025.
After a week of contests among ten teams, the final events were played out Friday, followed by the closing ceremony.
Chicago Bulls, Boston Celtics and Oklahoma Thunders were declared overall champion, first runner-up and second runner-up respectively.
The weeklong programme concluded with a celebration of sportsmanship, teamwork and the Josephites’ pursuit of excellence.
