St Joseph’s College welcomes fresher

35th freshers’ day of St Joseph’s College (A), Jakhama was organized at the college indoor stadium on July 30.

Jakhama, July 30 (MExN): The 35th freshers’ day of St Joseph’s College (A), Jakhama was organized at the college indoor stadium on July 30 with guest speaker, Supongnukshi Ao (IFS), Chief Conservator of Forest (Environment, Biodiversity & Research). 

In his speech, Supongnukshi remarked that the Catholic educational institutions have produced great number of people in many walks of life contributing for the society, stated a press release. “The college is teaching the students to be responsible contributors to the society: religious, political or any other walks of life which is the expectation of the society and hence the responsibility of the students begins from here,” he stated. 

Further, he said that experiences with failures have more lessons in life as he faced failures too in his life himself and exhorted the students to work hard giving his own experience. 

The management, teaching and non-teaching staffs, students of the college and special invitees were also present. 

Earlier, Sr Dr Ranit SABS, Vice-Principal, SJC said the invocation and Fr Dr George Keduolhou Angami, Principal, SJC said the welcome address. Some of the highlights were welcome song by the college choir, folk dance by Zeliangrong students, speech on behalf of the Freshers by Epibeni, special song by In Between group, Introduction of the freshers by CR/VCRs (First Sem); How far I’ll Go by Zolevinu Zhotso and dance by The Rival Chap.  Vote of thanks was proposed by Shamba Phom, President, Students’ Council, SJC (A), Jakhama and the programme ended with the college Anthem.
