
Kohima, December 19 (MExN): The community of St. Paul’s Church Khulazu Basa under St Andrew’s Parish Thenyizumi celebrated the golden jubilee and church dedication on December 17 and 18 on the theme, “In Him we live, and move and have our being (Acts17:28).”
On the occasion, Most Rev Dr James Thoppil, Bishop of Kohima unveiled the jubilee monolith and blessing of the Church after which Fr Vemedo Joseph Kezo, the first priest of St Andrew Thenyizumi Parish inaugurated the church by opening the door to the church.
The celebration of the Holy Eucharist was presided by Most Rev Dr Thoppil who encouraged all the faithful to always be proud of the Catholic faith passed from the apostles to the faithful of the community and the pioneers, who have departed from this world, stated a press release.
There were 15 first communicants who received the sacrament of Holy Eucharist for the first time and 24 confirmants who received the sacrament of Confirmation, it added.
After the celebration of the Eucharist, there was a short felicitation programme where the communities of St Xavier’s Church, Chozuba Town and St Jude Church, Yoruba Village presented a song each.
Johnny Ruangmei, President of Catholic Association of Nagaland (CAN) as well as the President of Chakhesang Catholic Association (CCA) congratulated the community and the programme concluded with a prayer led by Samuel, Catechist of St Paul’s Church K Basa. The programme was followed by the Jubilee Feast, the release stated.
