Dimapur, July 6 (MExN): The MGM School and College in collaboration with St Thomas Mission Society (STMS) has been undertaking the ‘Food for Security Mission’ to help students, staff and needy people in the COVID-19 pandemic.
“Many of our students come from middle class or lower middle class family. Many of them are plunge into extreme poverty due to lockdown starting from March 25, 2020,” a press release from MGM informed.
The mission is the idea of Fr Dr PS Varghese, the secretary of STMS, a registered society and the parent body of MGM institutions and church at Midland, it said.
Members of the society was concerned about the food for those impacted by the lockdown and he wanted to reach to those who were severely affected and were looking for a helping hand, it added. For the past two months, STMS has distributed food kit to 840 needy families, it informed, further expressing gratitude to the well wishers and sponsors for ‘unique’ mission.
