St Xavier College Jalukie kicks off sports meet
DIMAPUR, FEBRUARY 28 (MExN): The inaugural ceremony of the Xavierite Stadium and the Annual Sports and Games 2020, held on February 27.
The College hosted Lt General Rana Pratap Kalita, AVSM, VSM, SM, GOC 3 Corps as the Chief Guest. At a well-orchestrated ceremony, the students performed a variety of songs, dances and march-past. It also included an honorary moment of respect to all the soldiers of the nation.
Most Rev. James Thoppil, Bishop of Nagaland and Sentiwapang, DC, Peren, graced the occasion as special guests and shared the stage with other prominent other guests; Brig. Manish, Col. Shakti Singh, Col Avinash, Col Romesh, EAC Wangan & Iherie Ndang. Joining the ceremony were the student community of St. Xavier School, Barail Valley School, LM School and JNV, Jalukie.
In the inaugural event of an Open Tug-of War, sponsored by NYK, Peren District saw competitive participation of parents, Parish Community, SXC Alumni and Students of Hr Sec Schools.
Calling special attention, the Chief Guest in his message, invited the students to face the challenges of life positively and achieve goals with determination, making use of the available opportunities. Taking his own life-example, he urged the students to focus on their goals in life. He also appreciated the college management for the steadied growth and progress, showing the way for the better future for the region.
It was the Army Unit of Rangapahar, that helped in the excavation, filling & levelling of the new Xavierite Stadium. Rev. Dr. Francis, the Principal acknowledged and appreciated the Army, AR 36 and other benefactors in helping to construct the stadium.
