Shamator, October 2 (MExN): The annual games and sports event of St Xavier Higher Secondary School, Shamator, began on October 1, with Chubatemjen, Deputy Commissioner, Shamator, as the special guest at the inaugural programme.
Speaking on the occasion, the DC emphasised the importance of sports in developing physical and mental well-being, discipline, and teamwork. He noted that sports are an integral part of education, fostering friendship, healthy competition, and character building.
“We will not be defined by where we come from, but by where we want to go and what we want to achieve in life. We face many challenges, but whatever accomplishment you make will be a product of your own effort and talent,” he added.
The annual games and sports began with a tug of war.
Earlier, the school principal, Fr John Poji, welcomed the special guest, dignitaries, and the student community.
