Stage set for 65th AKM general conference

Ungma, January 18 (MExN): The 65th General Conference of the Ao Kaketshir Mungdang (AKM) – apex student body of the Ao people – is all set to kick start at Ungma village under Mokokchung district.
Ungma village is the biggest village in the Ao area; this is the second time that the village is hosting the conference after a gap of fifty nine years, the first being in the year 1952.
This year the AKM is inviting 2,500 official delegates to Ungma to participate in the conference. Nagaland Home Minister, Imkong L Imchen will be gracing the first night of the conference on January 19, 2011 as the chief guest. DoNER Minister, KH Handique will grace the second day of the conference as the chief guest, while chief minister Neiphiu Rio will be the special guest. Additional Chief Secretary & Development Commissioner, Alemtemshi Jamir and Dr Chubatola Aier, Principal Government College, Zunheboto will be the main speakers at the three day conference.
The three day general conference will witness speeches, songs, debates etc. The most important will be the election of the new AKM office bearers which will be held on the last night of the conference.
