Dimapur, October 31(MExN): In the backdrop of the October 30 killing of one Moayanger by unidentified gunmen in Kohima, the Kohima Aor Telongjem has called out to the people to boldly make a stand against the random killings.
A hurt Kohima Ao community today reminded the killers and all that Moayanger Longkumer, of Nokpu village in Mokokchung, was one of a family of seven. Being the eldest, he was also the only one employed, serving in the Directorate of Industries since may 2005. “As far as our knowledge goes, he had no criminal antecedents nor was he involved in any anti-social activities; in fact he was a gentle, God-fearing, innocent person with no enmity toward anyone and he was a good citizen of the Kohima Ao Union” a note of condemnation from the Kohima Aor Telongjem stated. The community expressed pain that no amount of justification by the killers would bring back the life of this innocent citizen. “The union would like to call upon the people of Nagaland to realize the consequences of bloodshed and to stand up boldly against such random killing of our own people…” it urged.
The Kohima Ao community grieved: “We Nagas like to profess that Nagaland is a Christian state. However in a Christian society, if our people resort to finding solutions and answers to our various problems plaguing the society only through the barrel of the gun, we are surely deviating from the teaching of Christ and inviting the wrath of God on our land.”
