With the parliamentary elections nearing and the tight schedules of increasing party activities, the state President has requested all party members to cooperate with the party programmes to ensure the party’s victory in 2014.

During the meeting, the state President Dr. M.Chuba Ao, also welcomed two new members into the party membership namely, Dr. Kakheto, (Radiologist) a former Minister and Hotrongse Sangtam, former President of State Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) expressing that their presence in the party will be a boost due to their experiences and knowledge.

Dr. Kakheto was the former Minister under the Congress ministry from 1993 to 1998 and also represented Ghaspani I and II. Speaking briefly, Dr. Kakheto expressed that the state will have difficulty in managing its affairs without the partnerships with National Political Parties due to its dependence on the centre for all forms of assistance. Comparing the Congress and the BJP, he said that the Congress has been in the centre for very long but has been dogged with dynastic politics which he is tired of. At the same time, on the matter of secularism, he asked if BJP is termed non secular, how far and to what extent Congress is secular. He said that the BJP has been found to be very secular and democratic as proved by the Atal Behari Vajpayee Government which was very popular among the people. He assured the party workers that he would strive hard for the party’s progress. Hotrongse Sangtam, had joined the party in November 2013, and has been actively participating in party activities since.

The state president, Dr. M.Chuba Ao and party members also wished everyone a happy and prosperous New Year with the message that we should always strive to live and work together harmoniously because peace, cooperation and prosperity goes together.
