State Boys lift DFL Trophy

State Boys Hostel today lifted the Dimapur Premier League (DFL) trophy today with 29 points on the table.
Tribal Hustlers came in second with 26 points, followed by Spartan FC with 23 points.
The winners were awarded Rs 1.50 lakhs while the runners up team recieved Rs 70,000.
In the final match of the league today, fourth placed AI Powerplay defeated fifth placed Tribal United by seven goals to 2.
This season’s DFL saw 12 teams and 166 players. 227 goals were scored in 66 matches.
Addressing the gathering at closing ceremony, Advisor for Power, H. Tovihoto Ayemi lauded the Naga United FC for successfully organizing the second edition of DFL and expressed happiness that several players during the league were selected to play for Nagaland team in the Santosh Trophy.
“The fact that several players were picked for Santosh Trophy during this ongoing DFL is no mean achievement for the organizers as they provided a very good platform for the players to be recognized by selectors,” he said.
He said that the DFL has provided a new vista to the football scenario in Nagaland. Tovihoto also expressed delight at the initiative for night matches adding that it had added more excitement to the football game.
Stating that the state has a huge number of energetic, enthusiastic, hardworking and talented players in our state, the Advisor emphasized on giving them proper guidance to unveil the full potential of their talents through platforms like DFL.
He encouraged the young players to continue playing with strong zeal and the spirit to compete, excel and be recognized. He advised the young players to desist from unwanted indulgences as regretting at a later stage would not be able to bring back what has been lost.
Tovihoto also encouraged the Naga United FC to continue providing the platform of football to the public of Dimapur.
