
Dimapur, February 27 (MExN): The State Excise Department comprising of the Narcotic Cell, Mobile Squad and District Excise Dimapur seized a total of 1167 assorted IMFL during raids conducted on February 26.
As per a press release from Tarep Imchen, Commissioner of Excise, Nagaland Dimapur, the raids were part of its ongoing effort to check the illegal inflow of liquor, which were conducted in areas of National Highway 29, Signal Basti and Industrial Village.
During one of the raids, 1047 bottles of assorted IMFL (Rum, Whisky, Vodka, Beer, Gin, Breezers etc) were seized and three accused were arrested and penalized under the relevant section of the NLTP Act 1989.
In a separate incident, the squad recovered 120 bottles of IMFL Mc Rum (750 ml) from the possession of an accused passenger in a taxi at Excise check gate, Chümoukedima.
The check gate duty party was led by Ketouselie AIE (Mobile Squad), Imlisunep HC, Supong HC and constables Anungla, Chingyak, Tsariba, Chingdang and Alichem. All check gate surveillance have been heightened and alerted for any untoward incidences involving inter-state and intra-state smuggling and trafficking of contrabands, the release added.
