State funeral accorded to Late K Yamukam

  Dimapur, November 10 (MExN): A state funeral was accorded to former minister Late K Yamukam, father of Advisor, SCERT, IPR, and Village Guards, Toshi Wungtung at his residence in Purana Bazaar on November 10. He passed away at the age of 89.   During the funeral service, speeches were delivered on behalf of Government of Nagaland, NDPP, ENPO, Western Yimchungru Hoho, Yimchungru Union, Dimapur and friends and colleagues.   Former Governor of Odisha, Maharashtra, Gujarat and Goa, Dr SC Jamir also spoke during the service and Advisor Toshi wungtung on behalf of the family members.   SC Jamir in his speech described K Yamakam as a man of strong conviction and trustworthy friend and colleague who tirelessly worked for the upliftment of Tuensang area in particular.   Chief Minister, Neiphiu Rio in his message described him as a simple and down to earth leader, a man of integrity and commitment, known for relentlessly raising the voice of the people he represented.   After the funeral service, the mortal remains of the leader was airlifted to Shamator Town where he will be laid to rest after a funeral service on November 11.   More condolences pour in Meanwhile, more individuals and organizations have mourned the demise of the leader.   Governor PB Acharaya: In a condolence note, Nagaland Governor PB Acharya expressed that in his demise, the people of Nagaland have lost a tall leader and a great human being. He also conveyed condolence to the members of the bereaved family and pray to Almighty God to grant strength and solace to bear the irreparable loss.   Vikho-o Yhoshü: Nagaland Speaker Vikho-o Yhoshü described Late K Yamukam as a great statesman. “He has immensely contributed to the peace between the Nagas of Myanmar and India. He as an MLA and Minister has made every effort for upliftment of the people and brought several developments to his area in particular and Nagaland as a whole,” he added. He also extended condolences to the family members and prayed for the departed soul to rest in peace.   DIPR: Department of Information & Public Relations has condoled the demise of Late K Yamukam, father of Advisor, SCERT, IPR and Village Guards, Toshi Wungtung. The Department, in a condolence note conveyed heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family members and prayed for eternal peace to the departed soul.   K. Therie: NPCC President K. Therie in his condolence message said, “Late Yamukum dedicated his career in the service of not only his people but also the state as well.” His demise has indeed left a void which cannot be filled and the vacuum will be deeply felt by his community and society alike, he added.   NPP: National People’s Party (NPP) while expressing sadness over his demise, also extended deepest condolences to his family members and prayed that Almighty will grant solace and strength to bear the loss.   NSCN (K) Kilonser: NSCN (K) Kilonser and Supervisor Yimchunger Region, Maj (Retd) Kewongkhum described Late Yamukam as a man of principle, who always upholds the righteousness of the peoples and society besides a champion in many social lives, which is immeasurable by any others. The condolence note read, “His demise has created a huge vacuum to the Yimchungru community in particular and Nagas in general, where his contributions and noble causes towards the society will always be cherish and remembered by the peoples.”   YAA: Yimchunger Akhem Arihako (YAA) described Late K Yamukam as one among the pioneers \of Yirnchunger. “Your gigantic contribution and services shall ever be treasured by the YAA with great honor,” a message from YAA General Secretary read. The YAA further expressed deepest condolence to the bereaved family members.   YTC: Yimchungrü Tribal Council (YTC) in a condolence message stated that Late K Yamukam was an upright and legendary figure and a founding member of YTC who dedicated his entire life for the welfare of the Yimchungrü society.” The YTC has lost a fatherly figure and the vacuum created by his death would be hard to filled,” the YTC further added.   YUK: Yimchungrü Union Kohima (YUK) mourned the demise of K. Yamukam and said, “His selfless sacrifices and contributions for the welfare of the people during his lifetime will always be remembered.” The Union further conveyed condolences to the bereaved family members and near and dear ones at this time of pain and grief.   Wangyuh Konyak: Wangyuh Konyak, Ex-MP (LS) in a message expressed that he considered Late Yamukam, personally as a father figure both politically and personally. “My family and I convey our deepest condolences to the bereaved family and may his soul rest in peace,” he added.   N. Theyo: N.Theyo Ex-Minister in a note said, “Late Yamukam was a very good friend of mine and I had the privilege to work with him. He was sociable and concerned farmers and cultivators at the rural village level. He took keen interest for the welfare of the farmers to remove the plight of poverty. Sadly, he is no more but he is to be remembered with thanks and gratitude. “   R Tohonba: R Tohonba, Ex-parliamentarian in a condolence note stated that the demise of Late K Yamukam, the Yimchunger tribe in particular and Nagas In general, has lost a great politician and also a great leader. Tohonba further conveyed his condolence to the bereaved family.   K Khunou: “I am fortunate to have wonderful memories of our leader and I really honour his legacy. His powerful voice calling for a shared and harmonious environment will be missed, K Khunou Public Leader also conveyed through a condolence message.
