
DIMAPUR, MARCH 24 (MExN): State Games 2018 for Persons with Disabilities (PWD) will take place in April. In this regard, the Special Olympics Nagaland (SON) invited all PWDs to participate in the Games scheduled from April 4-7 in Dimapur. Stating that travelling expenses incurred by participants from outside Dimapur will be reimbursed, SON in a press release informed that the participants should produce “original bus/sumo ticket” to claim reimbursements.
The participants should be accompanied by escorts, who can be family members, social workers or teachers in a 1:4 ratio “where 1 escort is to 4 PwDs.”
Accommodation for the Games will be at Life is Beautiful Resource Centre, Naga United Village (4th Mile), near Hope Academy School. “The State Games will be selection ground for the National Games to be held in Gujarat in May,” the release added.
The release further informed that as part of the Khelo India programme for PWDs 2018, Community Coaches Training (CCT) and District Games (DG) has been successfully completed in Mokokchung, Wokha, Peren and Mon this month. CCT & DG for Dimapur district will be held on March 31 and April 4, respectively.
Khelo India is a programme “introduced to revive the sports culture in India at the grass-root level by building a strong framework for all sports played in our country and to establish India as a great sporting Nation,” the release added.
