Jotsoma, April 14 (MExN): The Research Committee of Sazolie College, Jotsoma launched a book titled ‘State, Governance and Development in Northeast India.’ It was launched by Dr Gopal Basnet, Principal, Sazolie College on April 11.
The book is an outcome of a two-day National Seminar which was jointly organised by the Department of Sociology and the Research Committee in 2019. It was edited by Dr Thepfusalie Theunuo, Dr Narola Dangti and Dr Kangzangding Thou, stated a press release from the college.
Discussing the book, Dr Narola Dangti stated that it explores the idea of a state as understood as a territorial unit, ordered by a sovereign power with a centralized civil rule and how this idea is translated in the North-eastern part of India. It examines the pre-colonial, colonial and postcolonial NE states of India.
The foreword to the book was written by Virginius Xaxa, Former Professor of Sociology, Delhi School of Economics and published by DVS Publishers, Guwahati.
