KOHIMA, MARCH 22 (DIPR): Minister in charge of Border Affairs, H. Khekiho Zhimomi has said that the State Government is seeking the setting up of a Boundary Commission with regard to settlement of border dispute between Nagaland and Assam.
Replying to a starred question from MLA Taka Masa Ao on the floor of the Nagaland Legislative Assembly today, Khekiho said that the Local Commission appointed to identify the existing constitutional boundary between Assam, Nagaland and Arunachal Pradesh is likely to meet sometime in May at Guwahati. ‘Core issues are likely to be examined such as the detail extent of the territorial claims of Nagaland and the status of transferred areas.’
State Chief Minister, Neiphiu Rio also stated that the state government is taking appropriate measures with regard to issues coming up from time to time. In this regard, MLA E.T. Ezung and MLA Taka Masa Ao suggested that the matter should be considered with all seriousness at the highest level.
