DIMAPUR, SEPTember 2 (MExN): The Chakhesang Youth Front (CYF) has described the lackadaisical approach and indifferent attitude of the State government towards the Jalukie Zangdi incident as ‘outrageous and resentful’. Despite fully knowing that the tension has been brewing for quite sometime, adequate measures to protect the lives of innocent citizens have not been adopted, stated CYF President Mudovoyo Vero and General Secretary Deo Movi in a press note. “Even after the arson incident, the silence of the State government voluminously speaks the abdication of administrative responsibilities and duties”, it stated and urged the State government to treat the matter with utmost seriousness and compensate the innocent victims at the earliest and to deliver justice and reinstate the rule of law in the area.
“The reality of the arson incident is a threat to the congenial coexistence of the people of Nagaland. The NSCN (IM) has to take this arson incident as an eye opener that there are some wrong people occupying the right office of the NSCN (IM) and are covetous of land grabbing even to the extent of manipulating the santitity of the NSCN (IM) and by using other people to undermine the Nagas birth right”, the CYF stated adding that the people awaited for a decisive wisdom of the NSCN (IM) leadership to rise up to the occasion and deliver justice or else it will alienate people from the NSCN (IM).
The CYF was of the opinion that the “arson incident” was an undisputed violation of human rights as “women and even pregnant mothers were not spared by the armed cadres” in the rampage. The CYF stated that failure to take cognizance of the gravity of the situation was ‘regretable and deplorable’. “This is a grievous damage to human rights, womanhood and motherhood”, the CYF stated adding that “whitewashing and iniquitous manipulations will only fuel conflicts” and that “truth though bitter cannot be eclipsed”.
Pointing out that the Nagas are in perilous and difficult times, the CYF stated that it was alive to the fragile situation of the Nagas. “Selfishness lies and manipulations will not contribute to the reconciliation that we are thirsting for”, it stated and appealed for justice pointing out that Nagas identity was attached to it land and that it should be zealously protected by Nagas and not be “whisked away by some elements”.
