Dimapur, May 28 (MExN): The Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS) is a voluntary humanitarian organization having a network of over 700 branches throughout the country, providing relief in times of disasters/emergencies and also promoting health care to the vulnerable people and communities. The IRCS aims to inspire, encourage and initiate at all times, all forms of humanitarian activities so that human suffering can be minimized, alleviated and even prevented, and thus contribute to creating a more congenial atmosphere for peace.
A press note issued by Zakie Kire, general secretary, stated that The Indian Red Cross Society, Nagaland State Branch in order to strengthen its volunteer base calls upon young and energetic youth who are willing to contribute their time and services for humanitarian activities to register themselves as volunteers of the Red Cross.
The note mentioned that people of all ages can be members of the Red Cross. Any category of members/volunteers can make a significant contribution in meeting the needs of the most vulnerable people in the community. The IRCS Nagaland State Branch therefore requests anyone willing to enroll themselves as Red Cross members/volunteers to contact the office of the IRCS Nagaland State Branch at Kohima or the nearest District Branch of the Red Cross.
