
Guwahati, April 23 (MExN): Ten Judicial Officers from Nagaland attended the two days ‘Judicial Enhancement Programme for Grade-I Judicial Officers of Assam, Nagaland, Mizoram and Arunachal Pradesh’ organized by the Gauhati High Court in association with Judicial Academy, Assam and Nejotiat Assam Administrative Staff College, Khanapara, Guwahati on April 22 and 23. According to a press release, the delegates from the state were: Khape Koza, Principle District and Session Judge, Mokokchung; YM Imchen, Principle District and Session Judge, Kohima; GH Ramlia, Principal District and Session Judge, Dimapur; Hukato Swu, Principal Judge Family Court, Dimapur; N Suyie, District and Session Judge, Zunheboto; K Koso, District and Session Judge, Wokha; L Ezung, District and Session Judge, Phek; Y Longkumer, Registrar Gauhati High Court, Kohima Bench; Nino Iralu, Member Secretary Nagaland State Legal Services Authority (NSLSA) and Special Judge TDP Vigilance Commission; and Neiko Kanuo, District and Session Judge, Mon. On the first day, Justice JR Midha, Judge of High Court of Delhi apprised on the latest amendments and speedy techniques for disposal of motor accidents claims. While discussing on the topic of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO Act), Justice Joymala Bagchi, Judge, Calcutta High Court, informed the gathering that cases involving children are to be taken up only by a Special Court who is the District and Session Judge and Special Prosecutor who is the Public Prosecutor, the release stated. He also urged the Judges to be proactive in trying to find the truth and deliver speedy justice. On the second day, topics on The Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act and Arbitration and Conciliation Act were taken up by Justice SJ Mukhopadhaya, former Judge of the Supreme Court of India, and Justice (Dr.) BB Parson, former Judge Punjab and Haryana High Court respectively. Earlier,the inaugural address was delivered by Justice Arup Kumar Goswami, Judge Gauhati High Court. Grade-I Judicial Officers of Assam, Nagaland, Mizoram and Arunachal Pradesh, senior police officers of Assam and senior Officers of insurance company participated in the enhancement programme.
