State Kayakalp External Assessment team evaluates health centres

Phek, March 8 (MExN): The State Kayakalp External Assessment team evaluated District Hospital (DH) Phek, PHC Pfütsero and CHC Meluri from March 3 to 5.
The team which was headed by Dr Vikato Kinimi Joint Director, Directorate of Health & Family Welfare Kohima, along with the other team comprised of State Program Manager and District Program Manager of quality assurance assessed the health centres in the presence of Chief Medical Officer, Phek and district program officers.
Kayakalp is a national Initiative to give awards to those public health facilities that demonstrate high levels of cleanliness, hygiene and infection control etc. Its main objectives is to promote cleanliness, hygiene and infection control practices in public health care facilities, to incentivize and recognize such public healthcare facilities that show exemplary performance in adhering to standard protocols of cleanliness and infection control.
During the assessment, the team checked the hospital upkeep, sanitation and hygiene, waste management, infection control, hospital support services and hygiene promotion which are the six thematic areas under the Kayakalp scheme. The team also evaluated all the different hospital records and reporting and interacted with the doctors, nurses and grade 4 staff.
District Hospital Phek was also awarded 2nd and 1st prize during the year 2016 and 2017 respectively under Kayakalp scheme.
