DIMAPUR, SEPTEMBER 12 (MExN): The Department of School Education, in collaboration with the Samagra Shiksha Nagaland, organized the State Level Science Fair 2023, comprising seminars and exhibitions, at Government Higher Secondary School (GHSS) Pfutsero on September 12.

Avelü Rüho, Joint Secretary of School Education, delivered a speech on behalf of the special guest. She expressed gratitude to Chakhesang Baptist Church Council for their generosity in hosting the students during the event and encouraged students from all sixteen districts participating in the fair to cherish their time in Pfutsero. She emphasized that this event provides students with a platform to unleash their creativity, showcase innovative ideas, and enhance their understanding of various scientific concepts.

Avelu shed light on the significance of millets, often considered a staple of the less fortunate. She mentioned that millets are typically sold in packets in markets and can be found in many kitchens. In 2021, the United Nations General Assembly declared 2023 as the Year of Millets, a decision influenced by India to raise awareness and increase millet production. She emphasized that millets are resilient crops, adaptable to a wide range of temperatures, unlike wheat and maize, which are staple foods in many countries.

The special guest inaugurated the Science Fair 2023, and the program was skillfully compered by Khroto-ü Kapfo and Meyielhoubino. Vechikhoyi Lohe, Principal of GHSS Pfutsero, delivered a warm welcome address, while Rev Dr Ciekroveyi Cho-o invoked blessings for the event. A special song was presented by Baptist School Pfutsero, and Er Kevin Khezhie delivered an inspirational talk. Gloria Ezung, Assistant Director of SE, delivered the vote of thanks.

The fair serves as a platform for young minds to explore, innovate, and inspire, fostering a deeper understanding of science and its applications, a DIPR report added.
