State Level Training on Juvenile Justice Act

Dimapur june 3 (MExN):The three days State Level Training on Juvenile Justice Act was conducted by the social department in collaboration with the National Institute of Social Defence New Delhi on 24th till 26th May 2005 at hotel Saramiti Conference Hall.

At the outset of the inaugural Function Imti Jungshi Jamir Asst, Director Social Welfare welcomed the participants from various departments such as judicial, Police, Medical, School Education and NGO’s who attended the training. The inaugural speech was given by Khevito T. Shphe OSD Social Welfare and the training was conducted by the resource persons Kolhi Wetsha, Nagaland Children’, Home and Father Lucos from Snehalaya Guwahati. The training mainly covered the principle and definition of Juvenile Justice Act, Constitution and functioning of Child Welfare Committee, Juvenile Justice board, Special Juvenile Police Unit and Rehabilitation of the children in conflict with law and children in need of care and protection.

The training is said to be the first of its kind to be conducted in Nagaland, some of the NGO’s such as Prodigal Home brought to notice of the resource person the problems relevant to the Nagaland state which was discussed during the hour and gained knowledge to tackle the problem in future. The three day session was concluded with vote of thanks by Kewe Keneyi Joint Director thanking the resource persons for imparting the most essential training on Juvenile Justice Act for care and protection of children Act 2000.
