State Level Youth Festival commences

Kohima, March 9 (DIPR): “The event is not all about winning, but participation and meeting different people, witnessing various talents and being inspired, and thereafter setting goals,” said Secretary, Department of Youth Resources and Sports, Anenla S. Longchari, IAS. She was speaking as the chief guest at the opening ceremony of the State Level Youth Festival under the programme for Youth and Adolescent Development at Indira Gandhi Stadium on March 9.  

The Youth Festival started in 1995 to remember the contributions of Vivekananda, and since then the Ministry of Home Affairs & Sports, Government of India has been organizing the event, to bring the youths of the country together, Longchari maintained.  

Winners of the district level are to represent the district at the state level, and the winners of state level to the national level she added, lamenting that the Department has not been organizing the programme at the district level due to fund constraints.  

“Many of our youngsters are very talented, but we do not have the avenue for outlet of the talents” Longchari lamented, maintaining that the event is an effort of the department to provide a small outlet for talents of the youths. Superintendent, Department of Youth Resources and Sports, Avonuo said the invocation prayer. Students of IGS Academy presented a special song. Atoli Yepthomi chaired the programme. The event is being organized by the Department of Youth Resources and Sports.
