State Red Run 2025 held at Sovima

Chümoukedima, September 6 (MExN): The Nagaland State AIDS Control Society (NSACS), in collaboration with the Nagaland Olympic Association (NOA) and Nagaland Athletics, on September 6 organized the State Red Run 2025 at the Regional Centre for Sporting Excellence, Sovima, Chümoukedima.

This year’s run was held under the theme, “Run for Awareness, Run Against HIV and STIs.” The program began with a welcome address, followed by the pledge and flag-off ceremony led by Dr Ahu Sekhose, Project Director, NSACS. The event featured two race categories: State Level Red Run 10K (Men & Women) and Open 10K (Men & Women).

The Open 10K races were flagged off by Abu Metha, Secretary General and Vice President of the Athletics Federation of India (AFI). A total of 224 runners registered for the event.

The prize distribution and closing ceremony took place at the Multidisciplinary Stadium, Sovima. Short remarks were delivered by Abu Metha and Dr Ahu Sekhose before the awards were presented to the winners.

The event witnessed participation from across Nagaland and neighbouring states. Organisers stated that more than a competition, the Red Run served as a collective effort to raise awareness and strengthen the fight against HIV and STIs through sports and community involvement.
