‘State ULB election should be a referendum for demonetization’

DIMAPUR, DECEMBER 30 (MExN): The Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) on Friday said the upcoming Urban Local Bodies (ULB) election in Nagaland should be a referendum for demonetization and corruption.

Referring to the claim made by Amit Shah, the BJP President, that Chandigarh ULB election verdict which went in favour of BJP, was verdict in favour of demonetization, the NPCC president K Therie in a press statement said the people of Nagaland cannot afford to do that.

Maintaining that every subject is suffering from demonetization, excepting few corrupt politicians, Therie claimed that Nagaland public have no black money.

“Whatever money people have are their hard earned money. Whether it is in the bank or at home, they belong to the people and we are entitled to have freedom over our own hard earned money,” he said.

The NPCC also extended support to the charter of demands made by Congress vice president, Rahul Gandhi including lifting all restrictions on money withdrawal and compensation to farmers, traders and the poor who have suffered due to note ban.

Further playing the demonetization card, Therie stated that “if one is voting for NPF-BJP, he or she was endorsing demonetization and corruption and if one is voting for independent, he or she is voting for nothing.”

The NPCC president then said if “one is voting for Congress, he/she is rejecting demonetization and corruption.”
