Public asked not to be misled by negative information

Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio today expressed hope that Nagaland will soon become 100% free from measles and rubella through Measles & Rubella Vaccination Campaign (MRVC) which commenced today across the state.
Rio stressed on the need to spread the message about this campaign at all levels to ensure 100% coverage in the state and ensure that no child misses the opportunity to be protected from Measles and Rubella.
“We love our children. We want our children to be healthy because no parent wants his or her children to be sick or to be affected with this kind of diseases which take precious lives,” said Rio while launching MRVC here at Dr. Neilhouzhii Kire GHSS, Seikhazou.
On rumour doing the round about the danger of vaccination, Rio urged the citizens not to be misled by negative information and false propagandas. “This is a safe vaccine, certified by the WHO and will help our children in battling Measles and Rubella,” stated Rio adding that the world over has 100% successful story.
NHM Nagaland mission director Dr. Kevichusa Medikhru said in Nagaland measles has taken 12 lives in 2016, 12 deaths in 2017 and three children have died during measles outbreak at Kiphire two-three weeks back.
The objective of MRVC is to eliminate measles diseases and control Rubella by vaccinating all children from 9 months to 15 years with measles and Rubella vaccine and to protect the children from the two deadly diseases.
He said the campaign duration shall be approximately one month. The initial 2 weeks will be school based campaign, subsequent 2 weeks will be community based campaign for non-school going or missed out children and the 5th week will be sweeping/repeat activity based on supervision and monitoring findings.
