
DIMAPUR, NOV 3 (MExN): The regional conference on fostering good governance concluded today at the Police Training Complex, Chumukedima near Dimapur, in which Seniors officers of Government of India responsible for implementing governance, officers from Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya, Manipur, Mizoram, Orissa, Sikkim, Tripura, and West Bengal besides Nagaland, high level political executives from Nagaland, Officer from World Bank and academicians took part in the numerous technical sessions and deliberation.
The conference ‘achieved’ its objectives by exposing the best practices of 10 states to the participants. Some of the best practices were “communitization” of government’s role in Nagaland, involvements of youths in developmental works of Mizoram, involving comprehensive use of Information Technologies for making single window delivery system of Government services at the doorsteps of people in West Bengal and AASHA and SAMWAD projects of Assam.
Some participating states like Arunachal Pradesh shared their experience of outsourcing government services, while Orrissa made powerful presentation of the mechanism it evolved to reach out to the disabled and marginalized farmers.
The participants expressed their thanks to the Nagaland Government for making ‘very good arrangements’ for the conference, and also for holding a cultural programme yesterday evening which showcased Naga culture to the participants, informed Rajesh Sinha, Media & Communication Officer in a press note.
