Longleng district has the least number of blocks and villages in Nagaland. It has 3 blocks with 40 villages.
As on January 31, 2020, electricity, road connectivity and mobile phone services are available to all villages in this district, according to the survey report on Local/Block Level Statistics for Local Level Planning 2020, published by Directorate of Economics & Statistics, Nagaland.
Out of these villages, Yachem village and Yongshei village under Longleng block have the maximum number of amenities with 21 basic amenities which is followed by Pongo village under Sakshi block with 19 basic amenities. On the other hand, Sanglu village under Longleng block has the least number of amenities i.e. 5 out of 40.
Mentionably, the Survey on Local/Block Level Statistics for Local Level Planning is conducted under the Support for Statistical Strengthening scheme during 2019-2020 emphasized on the major basic amenities available covering all the recognized villages of the rural development department.
The villages in Longleng district are connected by 12.7% of the state’s government bus and about 1% of the state’s private bus, while 37.5 % of the villages in the district have access to taxi service.
Postal services cover 62.5% of the villages, while landline phone service is not available in any part of the district.
3.6% of the state’s Government Primary School, 2.3 % of Government Middle School and 6% of Government High School are located in this district. The share of the state’s private educational institution in this district is about 3.5%.
Out of the total villages, 35% have Sub-Centre facility, 10% have Primary Health Centre and 2.5 % of its villages have private Clinic/Hospital. However, there is no community Health centre in this district. 5% of the villages have Veterinary Health Centre.
Village Library is availed by 45 % of the villages in Longleng district, 57.5% have Village Council hall and 65% of its villages have playground.
37.5% of the villages in Longleng district have marketing shed, while there is no indoor stadium in the district.
Anganwadi Centre is available in 92.5% of the villages in Longleng district while 97.5 % have Fair Price Shop. 87.5% of the villages in Longleng district have PHED water supply connectivity and 47.5% have access to public toilet.
The report stated that there are no bank or ATM booths available in the villages in Longleng district. 2.8% of the state’s police station and 9% of the state’s police beat post are located in this district. 20% of its villages have Common Service Centre, 95% have Self Help Group and 50% of its villages have the facility of street light.
An intra-district comparison with respect to availability of basis amenities in different blocks under Longleng district shows that, on the average, Sakshi block has maximum access to basic amenities while Tamlu block has minimum access.
